Stella Fritzell
Stella Fritzell knew prairies firsthand as she was an ardent outdoors woman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. She was elected three times to the North Dakota Senate, beginning in 1972, where she worked passionately to defend the state's natural resources, and for the enforcement of environmental laws. She also served on the Grand Forks Park Board for 14 years, and the Grand Forks Planning and Zoning Commission. In 1969, she became
the first women's champion in trapshooting in North Dakota. Other honors include being named in 1976 as the Legislative Conservationist of the Year by the North Dakota Wildlife Federation.
