Northern Pintail 28 inches
Ducks such as the Northern pintail are inextricably linked to a region of the Northern Plains known as the Prairie Pothole Region. The prairie grasslands of Grand Forks County are an excellent example of how grasslands and wetlands combine to create a diversity of habitat that produce more waterfowl than anywhere else in the contiguous United States. Listen for the distinct whistle of the Northern pintail drake and watch for its characteristic “pintail” silhouette.
