Conservationists
Many persons have contributed time and money to protect grasslands and wetlands. Thanks to their efforts, we have the Prairie Chicken Management Areas, Kellys Slough National Wildlife Refuge, and various Waterfowl Production Areas. Initially, these conservationists were motivated to provide habitat for game species. However, their actions have also benefited nongame species and increasing numbers of photographers and nature watchers join hunters in enjoying these lands.
